Man Charged With Murder In Biker Brawl
BELVIDERE, N.J. (AP) _ A man hospitalized in critical condition was charged with murdering an outlaw biker whose gang crashed a motorcycle rally at an Elks Lodge and started a melee.
William Johnson, 35, was charged Monday with shooting Diego Vega, 23.
Police say Johnson was at the rally sponored by the Tri-County Motorcycle Club Sunday when eight members of the Pagan motorcycle gang arrived in a van and pickup truck and a started a fight.
Vega and another Pagan member, Glenn Ritchie, 43, were killed, police said. No one has been charged with Ritchie’s death. Another Pagan member was shot in the neck and was in critical condition.
Johnson, one of three people injured in the fight, was hospitalized under police guard in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the buttocks and stomach. His bail was set at $250,000.
Police say the Pagans are heavily involved in crime and want to take over other motorcycle clubs.
