HANOI, Vietnam (AP) _ The remains of six American servicemen listed as missing-in-action from the Vietnam War have been repatriated to the United States.

A U.S. military spokesman said Tuesday that six boxes of remains were flown to Hawaii, where forensic experts will work to determine the identities of the servicemen.

Often, the recovered remains amount to little more than a few slivers of bone.

The latest repatriation comes at the conclusion of the 47th joint Vietnamese-American search for the remains of missing, or unaccounted for, U.S. servicemen.

Some 1,500 U.S. servicemen are still listed as missing-in-action, more than two decades after the last combat troops withdrew from Vietnam.
