Libertyville Weekly Goes Daily
LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. (AP) _ A new daily newspaper debuts Monday when the South West News-Sun, a weekly newspaper for 96 years, begins publishing six days a week.
The News-Sun will report community news and sports in Libertyville, Mundelein and Vernon Hills, as well as state and national news, said Publisher Glenn Pfeil.
The South West News-Sun is affiliated with Copley Press, whose Illinois holdings also include the Aurora Beacon-News, Elgin Courier News, Joliet Herald-News, Lincoln Courier, Springfield Journal-Register, Wheaton Daily Journal and its sister newspaper, The News-Sun of Waukegan.
To accommodate the changes, the newspaper has added five new editorial positions, three advertising representatives, and additional office and circulation department personnel, said Jan Gehrig, managing editor.
