Man arrested on suspicion of DUI, reckless endangerment
A 33-year-old Mount Vernon man was arrested early Wednesday morning after several 911 calls reported gunfire in the area of East Viewmont Drive.
Police were investigating reports of shots fired about 1:30 a.m. when they observed a suspicious vehicle and conducted a DUI investigation, according to a Mount Vernon Police Department news release.
The release states police were able to link the driver to the weapons offenses.
Police conducted a search of the man’s residence, and found multiple firearms and shell casings on his property, the release states. Police believe the man fired a gun into the air and the ground.
The man was booked into the Community Justice Center on suspicion of DUI and reckless endangerment.
No injuries or property damage have been reported.
