Honesty pays off for Hingham bakery worker
HINGHAM, Mass. (AP) — A Hingham bakery worker is almost $2,500 wealthier because of her honesty.
Kathleen Camilleri, an employee of White’s Bakery, found an envelope full of cash on the store’s counter in February 2014 and turned it over to her manager.
When no one returned to reclaim the money, the manager contacted police.
The Patriot Ledger (http://bit.ly/18ux6Qp ) reports that police posted video of the customer inside the bakery on the department’s social media accounts and shared it with TV stations. The video shows the customer entering, removing the envelope from his pocket and putting it on the counter, then paying for his purchase before walking out.
Still, no one ever claimed the money.
So after a year, police gave the $2,480 to Camilleri, who’s going to school to become a pastry chef.
