The Lowell High boys basketball team stayed unbeaten and punched a ticket to the championship game of the IAABO Board 95 Holiday Tournament championship game with a dominant 81-52 win over Billerica on Saturday night.


The Red Raiders (7-0) will meet the winner of Saturday night’s late game between Pelham and Dracut in the championship on Sunday night at Lowell Catholic (7 p.m.).

The Tigers took this consolation game in the Small School Division of the IAABO Board 95 Holiday Tournament.

Ross Cotnam led Littleton with 17 points and PJ Barbella added 11.

For Innovation of Tyngsboro, Ben McKinnon scored 22 points and Riley Lennon 9.

Four Tyngsboro players reached double-figures in scoring, led by senior Elcharis Kamuanga’s 13. in the IAABO consy.

Phil Sutherland had 12 points, Christian Beck had 11 points and 6 assists, and Chris Ausiello had 10 points.


Lowell 56

Nauset 51

The Red Raiders (2-5) were down 23-10 after 1 quarter and 46-34 heading into the 4th, but rallied for the win.

Nauset led 51-50 with a minute to play. Lowell’s Niky Irrizarry scored to erase the deficit and was fouled on the play, adding the free throw. On the next offensive trip for LHS, Irrizarry retrieved her own missed free throw and scored a bucket to push Lowell’s lead to 5. She finished with 23 points and 6 steals

Kiana Prohn scored 19 points for the Red Raiders.

Micheala Martinez added 8 points, 8 rebounds and strong defense.
