Officials in Spokane seek names for new foot bridge
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Officials in Spokane are searching for a name for a new pedestrian bridge that is under construction in the city.
The soaring bridge would allow people to cross over railroad tracks that separate the university district from the East Sprague neighborhood.
The Spokesman-Review reports Monday that numerous people have offered suggestions for naming the new bridge.
Some of those include Children of the Sun Footway, the Mother Joseph Bridge, the University Bridge, Bell Curve Bridge and Achievement Bridge.
The bridge will span Martin Luther King Jr. Way, so someone suggested Equality Bridge.
Others suggested modern personalities such as Ryan Crocker, the former diplomat who was born in Spokane; novelist Jess Walter and Gonzaga basketball coach Mark Few.
