Trump sides with Saudi prince in odd statement: ‘Maybe he did and maybe he didn’t’

President Donald Trump won’t push the government to punish Saudi Arabia over the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khasoggi.

In a lengthy statement that begins by declaring that “the world is a very dangerous place,” the president said the U.S. does not condone the killing of Khasoggi, who was reportedly executed and dismembered inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey on Oct. 2. But Trump also said he won’t cancel a $110 billion arms sale deal over the incident (a figure that has been declared as “fake” by fact checkers at the Washington Post).
