Gambling revenue up 4 percent in Ohio, led by MGM’s recently acquired Hard Rock Rocksino

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Gambling revenue at Ohio’s casinos and racinos totaled $152.2 million in September, an increase of 4 percent over September a year ago, according to reports released Tuesday by Ohio’s lottery and casino control commissions.

This is the amount casinos and racinos keep after paying out winnings.

The growth was the result of gains at the state’s seven slots-only racinos, with revenue up there by 8.1 percent to $85.7 million last month.

Gambling revenue slipped 0.9 percent at the four casinos to $66.5 million.

For both the year to date and last month, Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park led the way. The Rocksino, which in July was purchased by MGM Properties, has taken in $193 million this year, after paying out winnings.

No. 2 is the Hollywood Casino Columbus ($170.2 million), followed by the Hollywood Casino Toledo ($152.9 million) and JACK Casino Cleveland ($152.1 million).

Table games are only permitted at the four casinos. The leader has been JACK Cleveland, with adjusted gross revenue from table games of $8.7 million last month and $98.8 million for the year.

There was one extra Friday in September 2017 than this September, but the same number of Saturdays.
