ALASKA MUSEUM-MORTAR SHELL
ANCHORAGE _ A museum in southeast Alaska closed after staff members were unable to confirm if a World War II-era mortar shell had been disarmed. Military explosive specialists later determined that the World War II-era mortar round was live. UPCOMING: 300 words by 10 a.m.
KETCHIKAN _ A mayor in southeast Alaska received a 10-day suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to soliciting prostitution. SENT: 265 words.
_ COACH ARRESTED _ The coach of a girls’ basketball team from a rural Alaska village was arrested on suspicion of smoking marijuana between games at a tournament.
_ PLANNED PARENTHOOD-ALLIANCE _ Planned Parenthood’s Indiana and Kentucky affiliate is entering into an alliance with the organization’s chapter that operates clinics in Hawaii and three Western states.
