Thunder brings win streak to Orlando...Jets in Boston...Tennessee on the road
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Coming off of their fifth straight victory -- in which they beat the Milwaukee Bucks, the team with the NBA’s best record -- the Oklahoma City Thunder will try to keep that streak alive tonight in Orlando, where they play the Magic. Orlando is trying to snap a three-game skid. The Bucks, meanwhile, look to resume their winning ways when they take on the Pistons in Detroit.
BOSTON (AP) — After a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers last night, the Winnipeg Jets are in Boston tonight to play the Bruins. The Flyers, meanwhile, head to New York to take on the Rangers. The other NHL game features Buffalo at Columbus.
UNDATED (AP) — In college basketball, top-ranked Tennessee is taking its 14-game winning streak out on the road, as the Vols play tonight at South Carolina. Third-ranked Virginia visits number-21 North Carolina State. And number-five Michigan hosts rival Ohio State.
TORONTO (AP) — Infielder Freddy Galvis and the Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a $5 million, one-year contract. The deal includes a $4 million salary this year and a $5.5 million club option for 2020. Galvis hit .248 with 31 doubles, five triples and 13 homers for San Diego last year, playing in all 162 games for the second straight season.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward Jordan Martinook to a two-year contract extension worth an average of $2 million per season. Martinook has 10 goals and three assists in 50 games while leading the team with 125 hits and blocking 28 shots — the most by a Carolina forward.
