Patriots come away with two medals at Wisner-Pilger
Clarkson/Leigh took two wrestlers in the Wisner-Pilger invitational on Saturday, and despite that small number, finished 10th out of 15 teams when both earned medals.
Colby Harney wrestled at 126 and John Langhorst competed at 195.
Harney placed fourth in the tournament.
He pinned Raul Juan of Wakefield in the first round during the second period, and pinned East Butler’s Kyle Heise in the second period during the quarterfinals.
During the semifinals, Harney was pinned by DeSota Koziol of Ralston during the second period but rebounded in the consolation semifinals earning the pinfall of BRLD’s Ryan Payton in the final period.
During the third place match, Tommy Pham of Ralston defeated Harney 7-4.
Langhorst received a bye to the semi-finals where he pinned Tommy Pham in the second period. In the championship, Carter Jensen of Howells-Dodge denied Langhorst the title with a pinfall at the end of the second period.
Harney is now 12-9 on the season while Langhorst is 5-4.
Omaha Bryan won the tournament with a total of 214 team points - 31 points ahead of second place Ralston. Two medals for Clarkson/Leigh earned the Patriots 31 team points, seven better than Scribner-Snyder and two back of the hosts.
