Inmate Killed by Lightning

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) _ One inmate was killed and two others were injured Monday when they were struck by lightning as they walked across a yard at the Maryland Correctional Training Center.

The two injured inmates were being treated at Washington County Hospital, said Warden John Conte.

″The inmates were walking across the yard headed for the evening meal, and they were half way across the yard when it (a storm) came up very quickly, lightning and rain at the same time,″ Conte said.

The dead man was identified as Maurice Morgan, said hospital spokesman John Costopoulos.

Anthony Tyree was listed in stable condition and Stanley Black was listed in serious condition, Costopoulos said. He did not have information about to their ages or hometowns.
