RUIDOSO DOWNS, N.M. (AP) _ The filly Thewayouwantmetoo ran a flawless race over a muddy surface Sunday to win the $625,000 Rainbow Futurity quarter horse race.

The 2-year-old filly, a 14-to-1 longshot, cruised over the 400-yard distance in a track record 19.209 seconds.

Ridden by Roy Baldillez, Thewayouwantmetoo broke from the No. 8 post position and immediately went to the lead. Unchallenged, she finished a half-length in front of Hardly Hateful, another filly. Hardly Hateful was a nose in front of the gelding Dm Shicago.

The win was worth $300,000 for owners Carl and Shawnea Smith of Jacksboro, Texas. Thewayouwantmetoo, who went into the race having earned just over $4,400, has won two of her last three races.

Baldillez, with just a few spots of mud on his silks, said the filly made no mistakes in putting away the other eight horses in the futurity.

``She left on top and never let up. She ran as perfect a race as you could ask,'' Baldillez said. ``The last part, I just cruised in.''

Thewayouwantmetoo has been a picture of consistency in her last three races with two wins and a second. The filly finished seventh in her first race here in May, when she was bumped early in a 350-yard race.

Trainer Sleepy Gilbreath said he was a little concerned about the muddy track because the filly had never run on an off track.

``You never know till you run them across it,'' Gilbreath said. ``I just felt if she broke good, she had a big shot.''

The rest of the field in the order of finish was Scrutinizer, First Down Runner, Mighty Invictus, Corona Ease, Royal Steel Dash and Mr Fifty Nine. Eye Man Who, a gelding owned by Jesus Alfredo Soto of Salisaw, Okla., was scratched.

Thewayouwantmetoo paid $32.60, $9.00 and $5.40. Hardly Hateful paid $3.60 and $3.20 and Dm Shicago returned $6.60 to show.
