Red Cross blood drives planned in December

The American Red Cross has announced a critical shortage in the blood supply and has sent out an urgent plea for donors.

The Red Cross will hold blood drives in the area during the first half of December. Dates, times and locations are as follows:

-- Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2:30-6:30 p.m., East Elementary School, 120 S. Sanborn Ave., Jefferson.

-- Thursday, Dec. 6, noon-6 p.m., St. John’s Lutheran Church, 129 N. Watertown St., Johnson Creek. Culver’s of Johnson Creek will provide each participant with a coupon for a free pint of frozen custard.

-- Monday, Dec. 10, noon-6 p.m., and Tuesday, Dec. 11, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Christ United Methodist Church, 112 Hall St., Watertown.

-- Friday, Dec. 14, 1-5:30 p.m., Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church and School, 269 N. Lake St., Hustisford.

-- Tuesday, Dec. 18, 12:30-5:30 p.m., St. John Lutheran School, 413 E. Madison St., Waterloo.

All donors are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, eat a well-balanced meal within four hours of donating and avoid strenuous activities a few hours before donating.
