Stelma’s Goals Lead Spartans

At Valley West, Karaline Stelma scored two goals and Cameryn Forgash added a third, as the Spartans handed Wyoming Area its first loss of the WVC field hockey season, 3-0, in league play Monday.

Valley West goalkeeper Sydney Rusnock made seven saves in a shutout effort. The two teams combined to launch 34 goals on goal with 25 penalty corners.

At Delaware Valley, Emily Festa made 14 saves and led the defensive effort that kept Coughlin from scoring, as the Warriors picked up a win.

Skyler Padgett scored two goals and also assisted a goal by Melody Bookey.

At Berwick, Peyton Lipsey scored two goals, and five other Bulldogs — Sydney Kimbell, Kaylee Houser, Nadia Lombardi, Hailey Stein, Maddy Isenberg — added a goal apiece in the Berwick win.

Meyers goalkeeper Olyvia Jackson made 13 saves. Jackie Nevel blocked all four shots that came her way for Berwick.

At Wyoming Seminary, Hannah Maxwell (two goals), Alex Wesneski (goal, two assists) and Julia Christian (goal, assist) led the Blue Knights’ offensive attack that ripped 45 shots on goal.

Sem goalkeeper Mia Magnotta made six saves for the shutout.

At Hazleton Area, Hannah Yanovich scored three goals — all in the first half — that Dallas an early cushion that led it to victory.

Shannon Barrett assisted two of Yanovich’s goals, while she scored one of her own. Dallas goalkeeper Amanda Puza allowed only one goal, but made 17 saves.
