Dow Rises 85 in Early Trading

NEW YORK (AP) _ Stock prices have opened higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 85 points in today’s early going. Advancers on the New York Stock Exchange hold a five-to-four lead over decliners.

The Nasdaq Composite Index is up 21 points and the S&P 500 Index is up seven points.

Analysts were looking for stocks to move higher, boosted in part by a stronger dollar and a rise in bond prices.

The tech sector was helped by a good earnings report from Adobe Systems.

But eBay stock is likely to take a hit on the news some some Internet heavyweights are joining forces to form a new Internet Auction network.

Trading is very heavy in the early going. This is a triple witching session, with the quarterly expiration of stock options, index options and futures increasing the trading volume.
