Kevin Johnson undergoes knee surgery, will miss at least six weeks
PHOENIX (AP) _ Phoenix Suns guard Kevin Johnson underwent surgery Friday on his right knee and is expected to miss at least six weeks.
The arthroscopic surgery removed loose cartilage and torn lateral meniscus, a team news release said.
Johnson is averaging 13.7 points, 5.3 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. He was placed on the injured list prior to Thursday night’s home win against the Atlanta Hawks.
Johnson had said he planned to retire after last season, but was persuaded to return and signed a one-year contract for $8.4 million.
He was coming off one of the few relatively injury-free seasons he’s had in recent years. Before last season, he had missed 33, 15, 36, and 26 games the previous four seasons.
