Giants trade Odell Beckham to Browns
In a blockbuster trade, the New York Giants traded star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on Tuesday to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a first-round pick, a third-round pick and safety Jabril Peppers, according to multiple reports.
The Giants traded Beckham just a year after the team signed him to a five-year, $90 million extension. In January, Giants general manager Dave Gettleman said the team wasn’t trading Beckham, but they’ve now changed course.
For Cleveland, the Browns can now pair Beckham one of the league’s best receivers with quarterback Baker Mayfield, the first overall pick in 2018.
The Giants, meanwhile, will continue to rebuild. Peppers will replace Landon Collins, who agreed to a six-year, $84 million deal with the Washington Redskins on Monday.
Beckham missed the last four games of the season with an injury, but still had 1,052 yards and six touchdowns.
The NFL Network was the first to report the news.
