WAUSA — Services for Mardella M. Smith, 78, Wausa, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Wausa. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wausa.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Wausa.
She died Saturday July 28, 2018, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Mardella M. Smith, daughter of Reinhard and Bertha (Von Rentzell) Doerr, was born Oct. 10, 1939, at Creighton. She was baptized and confirmed at Golgotha Lutheran Church of rural Wausa.
Mardella raised three children — Rod, Sandy and Diane — on the farm northwest of Wausa. In 1979, she was employed at Goodyear Tire in Norfolk for several years. She retired in Wausa.
Mardella’s greatest joy in life was her personal relationship with her savior, Jesus. She also found great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to shower the little ones with gifts at Christmas and always had something special for them when they came to visit. She also enjoyed her many flowers, gardening, cooking, sewing and feeding birds.
Mardella died July 28, 2018, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk at the age of 78.
Survivors include her children, Rod (Gayle) Smith of Pleasant Dale, Sandy (Mike) Klassen of Lindsay and Diane (Mike) Wakeley of Wausa; her brothers, Melvin (Gladys) Doerr of Omaha and Ray (Joyce) Doerr of Plainview; a sister, Stella (Luther) Gutz; a brother-in-law, Tom Guernsey of Omaha; her sisters-in-law, Janice Doerr of Norfolk, Janiece Carr of Sedona, Ariz., and Gladys Doerr of Omaha; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhard and Bertha (Von Rentzell) Doerr; her brothers, Milford and Les Doerr; and a sister, Ethel Guernsey.
