Tunnel collapses in SW China, trapping 14 workers
BEIJING (AP) — Part of a railway tunnel collapsed in southwest China on Monday, trapping an estimated 14 workers, the country’s official news agency reported.
The cause of the Monday afternoon collapse in Yunnan province’s Funing county and the exact number of casualties was under investigation, according to the Xinhua News Agency, which cited the local government.
It said the tunnel was on a pivotal railway linking Yunnan with neighboring Guangxi region. The report did not say if the tunnel was under construction or operational.
