Worcester man charged with taking child in court
WOBURN, Mass. (AP) — A registered sex offender charged with stealing a car with a 20-month old baby inside is heading to court.
Victor Baez is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on charges of kidnapping, receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment of a child, and driving with a suspended license.
Police say the baby’s parents went to Woburn District Court on Friday and asked the 36-year-old Baez, an acquaintance, to look after their care and the little girl.
When they got out of court, their SUV was gone.
The SUV, with the baby safe inside, was found about 45 minutes later.
Police say Baez, of Worcester, is a Level 3 sex offender, considered the most likely to re-offend.
It’s not clear if Baez has a lawyer.
