MISL Merges With WISL

WESTPORT, Conn. (AP) _ The Major Indoor Soccer League merged Wednesday with the World Indoor Soccer League to form a nationwide entity for the 2002-03 season.
The Dallas Sidekicks, San Diego Sockers and St. Louis Steamers of the WISL will play in the merged league next season. The futures of WISL franchises in Sacramento and Utah haven’t been determined.
The MISL also has teams in Baltimore, Cleveland, Harrisburg (Pa.), Kansas City, Milwaukee and Philadelphia. Clubs in Detroit and Toronto will not play this season but are expected back the following year.
It will be the first nationwide indoor soccer league since 1983.
