Man Accused Of Setting Fire At Scranton Business
SCRANTON — An Old Forge man is accused of setting a fire at his place of employment this afternoon.
Ernest Deininger, 49, 339 Orchard St., is charged with arson, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person after fire crews responded to Gress Refrigeration, 992 North South Road, at about 2:40 p.m. for a fire.
Someone had set fire to a pallet stacked eight feet high with bovine blood plasma bags and plastic wrap, but employees extinguished the flames before crews arrived. Fire inspectors reviewed video that depicted a man, later identified as Deininger, set the wrap on fire, then walk away, police said. Deininger eventually admitted to authorities he set the fire, police said.
Bail and preliminary hearing information were not immediately available tonight.
