PUTNAM, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man convicted of killing his father and shooting a police officer is set to be sentenced to up to life in prison.

A three-judge panel that convicted 39-year-old Andrew Samuolis of murder and assault in February and rejected his insanity defense is scheduled to sentence him Friday in Putnam Superior Court. The Norwich Bulletin reports prosecutors are asking for a 90-year sentence.

Police said Samuolis fatally shot his father, John, in their Willimantic home in February 2013 while arguing over selling the house and lived with the corpse for months.

Authorities say he shot and wounded Willimantic police officer Kevin Winkler four months later, when Winkler entered the home to conduct a well-being check. Winkler survived. Samuolis was later caught during a police manhunt of the neighborhood.
