Foecke, Stivrins earn Big Ten volleyball awards
Nebraska’s Mikaela Foecke and Lauren Stivrins earned weekly volleyball awards from the Big Ten Conference on Monday.
Foecke was named co-player of the week for her fourth award this season. She averaged 4.17 kills per set on a .458 hitting percentage in wins against Ohio State and Maryland. She also averaged 2.67 digs per set. Foecke led the Huskers on Senior Night with 16 kills on a .577 hitting percentage.
Stivrins is the co-defensive player of the week for her third weekly award. She had seven blocks in a sweep against Ohio State on Friday, and she followed that with six blocks in a sweep of Maryland on Saturday for the Huskers’ eighth straight win.
In the final regular season AVCA poll released on Monday the Huskers (24-6) stayed ranked No. 6 for the fourth straight week.
Stanford moved up to No. 1 after BYU lost for the first time last week. Minnesota is ranked second, Illinois is No. 3 and BYU is No. 4.
Creighton (28-4) is No. 9.
