Former Eagles Running Back Bosh Pritchard Dead

PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Running back Bosh Pritchard, named to the Philadelphia Eagles all-time team in 1965, died Thursday at his home in Fort Myers, Fla., the team announced. He was 77.

Pritchard played for the Eagles from 1942-51, averaging 4.4 yards per carry and 15.6 yards per catch for his career. He later became a radio announcer when the Eagles won the 1960 championship.

He was a member of the Eagles’ 1948 and 1949 NFL championship teams, playing in the backfield with Steve Van Buren, Joe Muha and Tommy Thompson.

Pritchard was a member of the Virginia Military Institute Sports Hall of Fame, as well as the Sports Halls of Fame in Virginia and Pennsylvania.

A memorial service is set for Sunday afternoon at the Deltura Country Club in North Fort Myers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Fla.
