Formal charges filed in Kroger shooting
The local man charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot a man Dec. 19 inside the Kroger store on North Clinton Street was formally charged Friday.
Marr Peter Brown, 31, of the 5300 block of North Clinton Street, was released Friday afternoon on $52,500 bond, the same bond amount he paid Dec. 21 after initial charges were filed, an Allen County Jail spokesman said.
The night of the shooting, Brown argued at the back of the store in the meats department around 6:30 p.m. with James Michael Walker, 46, of Fort Wayne, and then shot Walker once through the pocket of his gray hoodie, according to court documents.
Walker fled up aisle 4 and collapsed on the floor, colliding with a family with two young children, according to a witness. Brown then shot Walker again in the left leg near the groin, court documents state.
Brown left the victim but returned, pulled a gun out of his hoodie and appeared to reload, but some witnesses thought Brown’s gun jammed, a probable cause affidavit alleges.
Brown then left the store and drove away in a black 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
He is charged with attempted murder and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
