COVINGTON, La. (AP) — A Louisiana sheriff's office says firearms were found near the body of a woman who was shot to death before her home burned down in July.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office also says, in a Wednesday news release, that the FBI is aiding the investigation into the death of Nanette Krentel.

Krentel's body was found July 14 in the Lacombe area, north of New Orleans. Authorities said she had been shot and that the fire was intentionally set.

The sheriff's news release says an unspecified number of firearms were found near the body and "at least one" can't be ruled out as the one used to kill Krentel.

Krentel was married to a local fire chief, Stephen Krentel. Authorities said last month he has been cleared in the investigation.
