Final suspect surrenders in case of body found in burned-out car in Fayetteville

The third suspect charged in a 2016 case in which a body was found in a burning car near Fayetteville has surrendered to authorities.

The body of Martino Anthony Jones, 31, was found in the trunk of a 2005 Lincoln Town Car that had been set ablaze at the intersection of Gateway Drive and Manning Circle on Dec. 15, 2016. Authorities haven’t disclosed a cause of death or a motive in the killing.

Daniel Demetrius James Jr., 34, and Bryant Keith Wayne Peterson Jr., 26, were charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Malloy Jeffries McNeill, 69, was charged with obstruction of justice, conspiracy and accessory after the fact of murder.

McNeill and James were already in custody, and Peterson surrendered on Thursday, authorities said.
