19 Injured in Nebraska Accident
ELM CREEK, Neb. (AP) _ A semitrailer struck the back of a Greyhound bus on an interstate Tuesday, flipped on its side and burst into flames. Nineteen people were injured.
Seventeen people on the bus and the two occupants of the semitrailer were taken to hospitals, state police said. The extent of their injuries was not available.
Ken Beckford, a passenger on the bus from Sacramento, Calif., said the semitrailer’s driver jumped out of the rig just before the it caught on fire.
Firefighters extinguished the fire shortly after arrival.
``I had dozed off, and all I heard was a big explosion,″ Beckford told Lexington radio station KRVN.
