Plant specialist to speak at next Kultivators meeting

May 7, 2019

The Kankakee Kultivators will meet at noon Thursday at the Kankakee County Museum, 801 S. Eighth Ave., Kankakee.

Guest speaker will be Kelsay Shaw, owner of Possibility Place in Monee. Possibility Place specializes in native plants and provides education on the values of these plants in Illinois’ ecosystems and in private homeowners’ landscapes. A botanist and natural scientist, Shaw has spent 30 years travelling around Illinois studying how plant communities interact with one another, how plant and animal lives intertwine and what roles both play in the lives of humans.

Meetings begin with a light buffet lunch at noon, followed by a short business meeting and Shaw’s presentation.

Kankakee Kultivators is an educational/charitable organization affiliated with Garden Clubs of Illinois and National Garden Clubs, Inc. The club welcomes those interested to come and enjoy its programs, which are free and open to the public.
