Call for Nominees Goes Out in Ashby

ASHBY -- Nearly 20 positions for town office, boards, and committees are open for the Annual Town Election in April.

A spot on the Board of Selection and the town clerk, treasurer, and moderator positions are among those that will be on the ballot for the April 22 election.

Scott Sweeney has pulled nomination papers to run for a seat on the Board of Selectmen, which is currently held by Mark Haines, according to the clerk’s office.

Incumbent Treasurer Kate Stacy, Town Clerk Tiffany Call, and Planning Board member James Hargraves have also taken out nomination papers as of Monday, according to the town clerk’s office.

Two positions on the Board of Health for 2-year and 3-year terms and two Planning Board positions for 2-year and 5-year terms will be on the ballot.

A seat as the Ashby representative for the North Middlesex Regional School District is also open. That seat is currently held by Crystal Messamore.

Other positions that will appear on the ballot include:

* Board of Assessors, 3 year-term

* Constable, 3-year term

* Cemetery commissioner, 2-year term

* Cemetery commissioner, 3-year term, vacant position

* Library trustee, 3-year term

* Library trustee, 3-year term

* Library trustee, 3-year term, vacant position

Nomination papers are now available through the Town Clerk’s office. The last day to pull papers is Feb. 28.

March 4 by 5 p.m. is the deadline for candidates to file their nomination papers. At least 25 signatures from Ashby voters are required to make it onto the ballot, according to the clerk’s office.
