MIAMI (AP) _ Kenny Bannister hit the game-winning basket with four seconds remaining to give the Miami Tropics a 116-114 victory over the Philadelphia Spirit in the United States Basketball League championship game Saturday.

Miami scored six straight points to take a 114-111 lead with 56 seconds remaining, but Philadelphia scored on Dallas Comegys’ jumper and Michael Anderson’s free throw with 24 seconds remaining to tie the game.

Bannister, formerly with the Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks, took Duane Washington’s pass and hit a four-foot jumper to give Miami the victory.

Washington scored 25 of his 32 points in the first half as the Tropics opened up a 57-46 lead with 2:46 remaining in the second quarter. Philadelphia pulled to within 64-59 at halftime and then went on an 11-4 run to take a 70-68 lead early in the third quarter.

The Spirit led 100-95 early in the fourth quarter.

Bannister scored 18 of his 30 points in the second half for Miami, which finished the season with a 24-4 record. Anderson had 36 for Philadelphia and Comegys added 25.
