HOUSTON (AP) _ Steve Francis scored 25 of his 31 points in the second half to lead the Houston Rockets to a 92-87 preseason victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night.

Cuttino Mobley added 16 points for the Rockets (3-3), while Moochie Norris had 10.

Malik Rose led the Spurs (4-1) with 17 points, while David Robinson and Antonio Daniels each scored 12 and Tim Duncan had 11.

Rose scored 10 points in the final quarter to help pull the Spurs, who had trailed by as many as eight points, within 86-85 with 2:39 to play. But baskets by Norris and Francis and two free throws by Norris helped the Rockets hold on for the win.

Eddie Griffin, Houston's No. 1 draft pick who has been out all preseason with a sprained right ankle, played in his first game and scored his first basket as a Rocket with 4:16 to play in the second quarter. It gave Houston a 42-40 lead which the Rockets expanded to 48-43 at halftime. It was Griffin's only field goal in 10 shots.

Robinson had eight points in a 2-minute span that enabled the Spurs to forge a 57-57 tie with 6:34 left in the third quarter.

But Francis scored 18 points in the third quarter, including seven in a 50-second stretch that helped lift Houston to a 66-57 lead with 5:08 left in the period. They led 75-67 at the end of the quarter.
