Man hit by train placing flowers for previous train victim
MOORPARK, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a man hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Southern California had been placing flowers on the tracks for another man fatally struck by an Amtrak train days earlier.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office says a 47-year-old man died Monday after being hit by a northbound passenger train traveling through Moorpark at about 70 mph.
Witnesses told investigators the man had been on the tracks placing flowers for a 38-year-old man who was killed by a northbound in the same area on Saturday.
The Ventura County Star newspaper says the witnesses on Monday told the man to get off the tracks before the train came through, but he failed to do so in time.
