Kiersten Eggleton is female Gamer of the Week
Teays Physical Therapy Center Inc. and the Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s female Gamer of the Week to junior Kiersten Eggleton of St. Albans High School.
Kiersten helped lead the volleyball team this year finishing their record at 41-12-5. The Red Dragons were able to knock off George Washington in the sectional championship and defeated Greenbrier East and Woodrow Wilson to capture their first regional championship.
St. Albans prevailed against Morgantown in the first round of the state tournament to head into the semifinals against Spring Valley. The Red Dragons fell just short against the Timberwolves to end their very successful season. The team also made school history capturing the most wins in a Red Dragon volleyball season.
“Even though we didn’t make it all the way I am still happy with the success we had this season and the history we made,” Eggleton said.
A personal goal Kiersten set for herself was to surpass all the 1,000s for kills, assists and digs. She did just that, finishing her career with 1,259 kills, 1,421 assists and 1,420 digs.
“I owe my success to God, and I am very thankful for what I was able to achieve,” Kiersten said. “Tessa Wyner from George Washington is also a personal inspiration of mine for on the court play. I just strive to do my best and encourage my teammates to make them better. I try to always work hard in everything I do.”
Rex and Robin Eggleton, SAHS coaches, took over three years ago and are beyond happy with the success of the team.
“Each year the girls have improved and been able to accomplish new things. We expect the winning tradition to continue with more history made for the girls’ volleyball program.”
Kiersten currently carries a 4.8 GPA and is a variety of clubs at school including; FCA, student council and prom committee. Kiersten is also a member of the girls’ basketball team. Kiersten plans to attend college and play volleyball with aspirations of becoming a Physical Therapist.
