CLEVELAND (AP) _ Jeff Rogers scored 20 points to lead Butler to a 76-68 victory over Cleveland State in the Mid-Continent Conference on Saturday.

Cleveland State (5-16 overall, 3-9 MCC) led for the first few minutes of the game, but a layup by Kelsey Wilson put Butler (16-5, 9-2) ahead one point at 16-15 with 12:48 remaining. Cleveland State tied the score at 18 with 12:10 remaining on a 3-pointer by Derrick Zeigler, but a layup by T.J. Perry put Butler ahead 20-18. Butler led the rest of the way, ending the first half with a 37-25 lead.

In the second half, Butler increased its lead to as many as 21 points when Jon Neuhouser made a free throw to give his team a 59-38 lead with 9:24 remaining.

Cleveland State managed to cut Butler's lead to eight points with 18 seconds remaining, but couldn't get any closer.

Neuhouser added 16 points for Butler.

Zeigler led scoring for Cleveland State with 18 points. Leonidas Skoutaris added 17, and Eric Nichelson scored 16. Skoutaris also made four of six 3-pointers.

Butler led Cleveland State in rebounds 38-28 and had only 17 fouls compared with 27 for Cleveland State.
