Ill.-Chicago 62, Cleveland St. 60

CHICAGO (AP) _ Two free throws by Mark Miller with 2.6 seconds remaining gave Illinois-Chicago a 62-60 win over Cleveland State on Saturday.

The win was the Flames’ fifth in a row, their sixth in their last seven games and keeps them in first place in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference.

Cleveland State was down by as many as 12 points in the second half, but rallied to tie the game at 60-60 on Malcom Sims’ layup with 17 seconds remaining. Miller was fouled by Derrick Zeigler and sank both free throws.

Illinois-Chicago (7-9, 6-1) was led by Anthony Coomes’ career-high 20 points. Coomes also had five assists, grabbed three rebounds and had a steal. Miller scored 18 points.

Cleveland State (5-13, 3-5) was paced by James Madison’s 13 points. Sims scored 12.
