Erie Community Garden to Offer Residents Seminars, Hands-on Gardening Program with Grant Money
The Kenosha Farm Community Garden will develop an organic gardening program and hold seminars for residents, thanks to a grant from the Colorado Garden Foundation, which has awarded more than $8.3 million in grants to organizations across the state over the last 60 years.
The grant awarded $10,680 to the nonprofit that allows Erie residents to cultivate gardens on rented plots at 1245 Lombardi St., according to a news release from Kenosha Farm.
The nonprofit plans to work with the Erie Community Center to develop a hands-on organic gardening program for active adults. The grant also will fund seminars aimed at teaching residents about growing food, including topics like seed selection, irrigation and pest management.
Residents can sign up for these programs at the community center.
