6 adults suffer minor injuries in Greenwich partial deck collapse

May 17, 2019

GREENWICH — Six adults suffered minor injuries when a deck on a home partially collapsed Thursday night.

The report came in around 8:40 p.m. for a partial deck collapse at a two-story house on Londonderry Drive.

Although initial reports indicated about 15 people were injured, police later confirmed six people were injured. Police said the six were treated on scene and each refused to be transported to the hospital for further evaluation or treatment.

All but one fire unit cleared from the scene at 8:55 p.m. Around 9:10 p.m., the remaining fire unit cleared from Londonderry Drive.

A representative for the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was on scene because of a concern of some kind of chemical, or otherwise, runoff getting to a pond near the home. Fire units on scene confirmed no runoff reached the pond.
