$50K bond for man accused of dragging a Chandler policeman
CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) — Bond has been set at $50,000 for a man accused of dragging a Chandler police officer in a car and then fleeing from authorities.
Allen Lee Pedro turned himself in to Chandler police on Wednesday, nearly 48 hours after the incident.
He had his initial court appearance Thursday and didn’t have an attorney yet.
The 27-year-old Pedro is being held on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
A police officer suffered minor injuries Monday after being dragged by a car following a traffic stop.
Authorities say Pedro had outstanding warrants and fled onto the Gila River Indian Reservation after the dragging incident.
Tribal police found his vehicle on State Route 587 about a half-mile south of Hunt Highway.
His next scheduled court appearance is on Jan. 18.
