New Canaan man killed by train
DARIEN — The man killed by a train last week on the tracks between the Darien and Noroton Heights train station has been identified.
John Hickey, 50, of New Canaan, was pronounced dead at the scene according to Metro-North Railroad Spokesman Aaron Donovan. Donovan said the MTA’s investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Around 7:45 p.m. on Dec. 13, the railroad service was alerted to a report of a person hit by a train near Darien. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Metro-North said. The incident involved the 6:49 p.m. train from Grand Central Terminal.
One passenger told Hearst Connecticut Media on Thursday that conductors announced that a man had run in front of the speeding train and was killed.
