LANCASTER -- It’s fall fair time in New England, and the 43rd annual Horseshed Fair will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at First Church of Christ.
The fair draws hundreds of visitors from throughout central Massachusetts. In addition to a wide range of craft items displayed by more than 60 independent vendors, church members make more than 100 pies, including apple, cherry and blueberry, as well as apple crisp.
Those familiar with the fair will be standing in line at the Lunch Box for the famous “Dakota Dixie Chili,” as well as burgers, dogs, chowder, soda, iced tea, water and other beverages. A beer garden will feature local and national brews.
A baked-goods kitchen inside the Community Hall will offer cookies, breads, baked beans, fruit rollovers, cupcakes and more. There will also be fresh Vermont cheddar for sale.
For the first time this year, the winner of the church’s “Destination Raffle” will be selected. One lucky winner will receive $3,000 worth of travel vouchers for a vacation of their choosing. If you don’t have a raffle ticket yet, go to go.rallyup.com/firstchurchlancaster ; tickets are $20.
Also featured again is the very popular gift-basket raffle with such items as holiday decorations, coffees, chocolates and crafts.
Be sure to stop by Kid’s Corner for henna tattoos, face-painting, games, popcorn, and hand-made crafts made by and sold by young children and teens.
The fair will be held rain or shine on church grounds, 725 Main St. There is no cost for admission. The fair is the church’s largest annual fundraiser.
