NEW YORK (AP) _ ``Doubt,'' last season's most honored play on Broadway, will close July 2 at the Walter Kerr Theatre after a run of 525 performances.

The drama by John Patrick Shanley won all the major awards including the best-play Tony, the Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award.

``Doubt,'' which currently stars Eileen Atkins and Ron Eldard, concerns a parochial school nun and her suspicions about a priest's interest in a male student.

The Manhattan Theatre Club production will begin a national tour in September at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. Cherry Jones, who originated the role of Sister Aloysius and won a Tony Award, will head the tour.
