Ben T. Harris named Genesco’s chief executive
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Ben T. Harris, whose career with Genesco began 30 years ago as a shoe salesman, has been named chief executive officer, the company said Monday.
Harris was named president and chief operating officer of the footwear manufacturer in November 1996, when it was announced he was expected to succeed David Chamberlain as CEO.
Chamberlain retains his position as chairman of Genesco’s board of directors.
Genesco markets and distributes shoes under the brand names of Johnston & Murphy, Dockers Footwear and Nautica Footwear and boots under the brand names of Laredo, Code West and Larry Mahan.
It operates 492 retail stores, principally under the names Jarman, Journeys and Johnston & Murphy.
