Music equipment stolen from Illinois musician
URBANA, Ill. (AP) — Longtime Urbana blues musician Candy Foster walked outside his home Feb. 14 to find his van gone and with it much of his musical life.
Foster tells The News-Gazette in Champaign (http://bit.ly/1jRfTBn ) that the blue van held almost all of the music equipment he owned. That includes a drum set, sound cables, microphones, speakers, a sound system and more.
He estimates more than $4,000 worth of equipment was stolen.
Now a member of Foster’s band, Shades of Blue, has started to raise money online. A page on the crowd-funding site gofundme.com has raised about $1,600 so far.
And Foster says music businesses have offered to loan out gear so he can play a show Saturday in Missouri.
Foster has been playing in the area for more than 40 years.
