Cold weather brings little movement in gas prices

January 20, 2019

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Drivers are seeing little movement from gas prices in New Jersey and around the country amid plummeting temperatures.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the state on Friday was $2.35, up two cents from last week. Drivers were paying $2.61 a gallon a year ago at this time.

The national average gas price Friday was $2.24 a gallon, unchanged from last week but well below the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $2.54.

Analysts say an oversupply of oil in the global market has meant a steady decline in gas prices, but oil prices remained above $50 this week, so many analysts believe low gas prices could be on the way out.
