Eriksson Leads Scottish PGA
PERTH, Scotland (AP) _ Klas Eriksson had a 1-under-par 71 in the rain and wind Sunday and held a one-stroke lead over Rolf Muntz in the Scottish PGA at Gleneagles.
Erikson opened the third round with a double bogey but had an eagle and two birdies on the back nine and was at 7-under 209 after three rounds.
The 28-year-old Eriksson pitched in for an eagle at the par-5 12th to get his round back on track and added birdies at 16 and 18.
``It was very tough out there but it was the same for everybody,″ Eriksson said. ``When I double-bogeyed the first I didn’t worry too much about it because I knew everyone was going to struggle.″
Muntz, the second-round leader from the Netherlands, three-putted twice and finished with a 73 and was at 210.
England’s Roger Winchester was third at 211 after a 72, two strokes better than countryman Warren Bennett, Per Nyman of Sweden and Andrew McLardy of South Africa.
Justin Rose, who had a share of third at 5 under at the halfway mark, struggled on the back nine, had a 10-over 82 and was at 5-over 221.
The 19-year-old, who finished fourth at the 1998 British Open before turning pro and missing the cut in his first 17 tournaments, couldn’t reproduce the form which saw him have opening rounds of 68 and 71.
