Matthew Smith & Indelible Grace to perform Tuesday in Florence

September 19, 2018

FLORENCE, S.C. -- Nashville-based Matthew Smith & Indelible Grace will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in the Sanctuary.

“Smith writes new melodies to centuries-old hymns text, helping guide people into emotionally honest worship,” according to a release from the church.

Smith is a founding member of the Indelible Grace community, whose work has drawn acclaim across denominational lines and is used in churches around the world. Born out of a college ministry, the reimagined hymns have found wide acceptance both among college students and the church at large, joining people who desire to honor tradition with those who want a modern musical approach. His latest album is QuietHymns.

“A parishioner brought this opportunity to our attention. Matthew Smith was to be in our area and followed up with available dates,” said Ann Rodgers Chandler, director of music, at First Presbyterian.

“We hope this can be a community outreach.”

First Presbyterian Church is located at 700 Park Avenue in Florence. Donations will be accepted. For more information, visit www.matthewsmith.us or call First Presbyterian at 843-662-2583.
